Artist Statement

I am inspired by the natural environment.

As a native Californian born in San Francisco and living in the East Bay Area, I have enjoyed hiking the local hills, visiting the regional parks and the short drive to the Pacific Ocean. I am fortunate to view the San Francisco Bay from my home and value the bright California light, the green and gold of the hills as well as the blue of the ocean. All these influence my choice of colors and palette.

In addition, the garden my husband tends at home and daily walks around my neighborhood provide my source of imagery. Daily mediation and yoga practice informs how I approach art and allows me to savor the beauty of nature.

Finally, I must recognize my father, Howard Morrill, a San Francisco abstract expressionist, who taught me to appreciate and value the love of art and beauty.
